Keen as mustard?
If you'd like to be an fdesign member, the first thing you need to do is click register on the homepage and complete the registration. Once you successfully sign up, you can start contributing to projects.
How activities work
Once you're signed up and are part of a project, you can start completing 'activities'. All activities you're involved in will have a goal. This could be asking you to complete a quick questionnaire or doing something a bit more in-depth. Every project you're invited to participate in will have a progress chart so it'll be clear how much more there is to do.
Activities... start your engines
An activity can start at anytime; when a new one begins you'll be sent an email explaining what to do. Once you get the ball rolling, you may end up with a few activities on the go at once; by logging in you'll be able to see progress with your personal fdesign progress tracker so you can see just how much you've done.
We'll bring the ideas to the party
The initial ideas for projects will come from first direct and you'll be asked your views on them. Some you may feel passionately about, others may not interest you that much, but your participation and honest feedback gives us a much better understanding of what our customers want.
Keeping things relevant to you
A key aspect of fdesign activities is that they are based on different banking habits so we get a really broad spectrum of views and opinions. This means that some activities will be your cup of tea and others won't. You'll only be invited to participate in activities that are right for you and that you're likely to have an opinion on.
Some you win, some you lose
The aim of fdesign is to experiment, to explore and see what really works for our members. Not everything we propose will come to fruition, but nothing we propose is a waste of time and effort. All your feedback will help determine which projects have potential and which need to go back to the drawing board.
Keeping everything ticking over nicely
As well as customers and guests we'll have a team of fdesign moderators making sure everything runs nice and smoothly. They'll make sure projects are added; activities are updated, and they'll moderate discussion topics so that everyone is happy.
Do I use my bank account details to access fdesign?
No, fdesign works completely independently of first direct's banking and online banking system. We strongly advise that you use a different password to keep your financial information as secure as possible. Do not share any of your personal financial information on fdesign with the team or any other members. If you need help with your account, please contact the first direct customer service team on 03 456 100 100.
Can I get financial advice here from first direct or other customers?
fdesign will be used to discuss financial products, services and other matters. We want to understand the needs of our customers better and gather opinions on the things that we are working on. However, no financial advice of a personal or general nature will be given by first direct on fdesign and we'd prefer members to avoid discussing this between themselves as well. We want to keep this really focused on our goal of creating a better service for customers. first direct will remove any content it thinks unsuitable, and does not endorse the financial advice that any member may give.
How do I get involved in fdesign?
At the moment we are keeping the numbers fairly small by inviting customers directly. However, we do hope to open it up in the future and let everyone get involved. Keep an eye on the usual first direct communication channels for more announcements.
I am having problems using fdesign, what do I do?
The best thing to do is to get in touch via the contact form within the platform. Then one of our fdesign moderators will try to help you or bring in additional support as needed. To help us resolve your problems as quickly as possible, it would be really useful if you can provide some details about the problem. What were you trying to do? What happened when you tried to do it? Were there any error messages or other information presented? Also what kind of device and web browser are you using? Roughly, when did the problem occur?
I am having problems accessing fdesign, what do I do?
If you are having problems logging in, the forgotten password tool can help you gain access via your email account. Be sure to check your junk mail folder if you do not receive the email. If you still can't gain access, then you will need to contact first direct customer services for support on 03456 100100.
What are projects and activities?
When using fdesign, we'll ask for your thoughts and ideas about a certain topic or banking development; this is called a project. Within these projects, we will ask team members to complete activities. These could be completing a survey, reviewing an idea and providing feedback, participating in an online focus group or testing a prototype (among others). Completing activities is how the project is progressed.
I have a question about a project or activity, what do I do?
Our fdesign team at first direct will be happy to help you with your query. Log in and use the contact form within the fdesign platform to get in touch. Please provide as much detail as you can about your query to help us resolve your query as quickly as possible.
What happens when a project is completed?
This will depend on the project. It may be the beginning of an exciting new service or product that goes on to launch quickly, it could take time to launch fully or may not launch at all. Whatever the result, we feel that completing any project on fdesign is an achievement and success in itself. We will always try to do a wrap up and celebrate and shout about the work.
What will happen to the information that I provide?
All the information you provide will be used to shape the idea and if progressed build a business case for the project to be carried to fruition by first direct. All information is stored securely on the platform and tied to the project it was submitted for.
How do I leave fdesign?
If you decide you don't want to be a part of fdesign any more, then please log in, go to your profile page and click on 'delete account'.
